Have a seat, it’s time to answer a tough question…

“When do I need to replace my AC and Heating system?”

Now this question is more complex than just one answer. Many factors have to be considered before recommending a replacement. Below I will go through the many factors that we take into consideration before recommending a complete system replacement.

The Warning Signs

  1. Age: AC units typically last around 15-20 years. Depending on the constant maintenance of the unit this number may vary. If your unit is nearing or above this age, it may be less efficient and more prone to breakdown. Now this doesn’t mean that your AC unit has a shelf life since all situations are different, but we are happy to work with you every step of the way.
  2. Frequent Repairs: If your AC unit requires frequent repairs or if the cost is too high, it may be cheaper to invest in a new unit in the long run.  By investing in new equipment you also get an updated warranty on the equipment. Investing in a new unit will also decrease your electric bill because it will work more efficiently.
  3. Comfortability: If your unit struggles to maintain a comfortable temperature in your home, even after repairs and maintenance, it may be time to consider a new unit. After the summer we experienced last year this may be a major factor to consider. Now there are many reasons why your home may not be at a comfortable temperature so let us come out and diagnose it for you.
  4. Refrigerant Leaks: Refrigerant leaks can lead to decreased cooling performance and may indicate underlying issues with your AC unit. If your unit requires frequent recharging of refrigerant or if you notice ice buildup on the evaporator coil, it might be time to replace part of or the entire unit.
  5. Strange Noises or Odors: Unusual sounds such as banging, rattling, or grinding, as well as strange odors like burning or musty smells, could indicate serious issues with your AC unit that may require replacement. Now these symptoms alone are not a sure indicator that your unit needs to be replaced, but combined with other factors it could mean replacement.
  6. Outdated Technology: Older AC units may lack modern features such as programmable thermostats, variable-speed motors, or smart home integration. This may lead to reduced comfort and efficiency compared to newer models. If you are looking for more high-tech equipment in your house, then a replacement will likely be the solution. We offer multiple options depending on what type of tech advancements you want to make for your home.
